Road, track, and alpine views

Live Cameras & Road Weather

Public camera sources for Milford Road, Kepler/Luxmore, Great Walks, and the main approach roads into Te Anau.

Live conditions

A forecast tells you the model. A camera shows you the place.

These are public third-party camera feeds and galleries. Use them as visual context, not as a replacement for official road closures, track alerts, or weather warnings.

Milford Road & SH94

Road cameras that matter before Milford

For a Milford day, these are more relevant than a simple Milford Sound sea-level temperature.

Southland road weather

Harvest road-weather galleries around Southland

These are broader Southland route cameras and galleries. They are useful for approaches into Te Anau, especially in cold or unsettled weather.

The Mountain Safety Council list includes a Darran zoom cam link, but that link returned 404 when checked on 10 June 2026, so it is not shown as a live card here.

Camera indexes worth keeping

These source pages are useful when you want to browse beyond the Te Anau-specific cards above.

How to use these cameras

Camera images are visual context only. They can be delayed, offline, overexposed, blocked by weather, or pointed away from the exact place you care about. For road decisions, use the official SH94 status and the road phone line. For tracks, use DOC alerts and a current mountain forecast.

  • Milford Road: pair Gertrude Valley, Gorge Hill, the official SH94 status page, and the 0800 road phone line.
  • Kepler/Luxmore: use the Kepler Track camera plus DOC alerts and Fiordland mountain weather.
  • Queenstown to Te Anau: Frankton cameras are most useful for traffic timing, while Southland road-weather galleries are better for cold-road context.
  • Longer approaches: Lindis, Twizel, Pukaki, Haast, and Dunedin cameras are route context, not Te Anau conditions.
